Sleeping under the stars

Ben went camping (no, that's not a typo -- yes, camping, with a tent and a sleeping bag in the great outdoors) last weekend with some fellow Taylor grads who all live in the Portland area. They stayed at Lost Lake near Mount Hood and hiked, fished, and hunted elk I think. Here's a few pics...

Keep Portland Weird.

Portland residents love their "Keep Portland Weird" bumper stickers, and there's a reason why: because Portland is weird. Or it can be weird. In the past few months we've witnessed the following with our very own eyes:

- A 450-lb. pumpkin growing in front of someone's house, about two blocks from us. Normal? I think not.
- Some dude walking laps around Multnomah Village loudly rapping along to Eminem's "Stan" on his iPod. Strange -- we've actually seen him several times.
- A three-legged bulldog gleefully strolling down the street.
- A man jogging backward down the street in front of our house.
- A woman vomiting in the middle of a downtown street. She finished, wiped her mouth, and kept walking.
- A fox right in the middle of Gabriel Park. Okay, not weird, but freaky!

We'll keep chronicling the "weirdness" we see -- it's what keeps life interesting around here. :)
